Mrs. Victor Harris spent Tuesday in Navasota with relatives. Mrs. John Sharp Williams Jr of Yazoo Miss has arrived for a two week visit with her parents Mr and Mrs Jas H Webb on South College Avenue. Her sister Mrs Allen Myers of Birmingham Ala is visiting in the home at this se making a complete reunion. Mr and Mrs T Van Halom have returned from a visit with relatives in Houston. Mrs Halom says Houston is the rose city of Texas with exquisite sights in home yards and in the city. Sam E Eberstadt is confined to his bed today with a slight attack of rheumatism.

Tornado last night in Alabama and Mississippi killed 11 and injured 150. Nine killed at Moundville Alabama. Over 40 homes wrecked and Mrs Frank Simmons and her daughter Helen among the injured. Ex A M Student Dies at Austin

Charles Rogan 71 prominent Central Texas lawyer and former Texas A M College land commissioner died in Austin on Tuesday. He served 1899 to 1903 as land commissioner and later practiced law. Rogan held multiple Brown County offices and was among Texas A M 1881 graduates. He leaves a son James Rogan of San Francisco and four daughters.

Taxes Hired in Plan Mellon Gives

Secretary of the Treasury Andrew Mellon presented to the House Ways and Means Committee an administration tax increase plan. It aims to raise 390 million dollars this year and 920 million next, with a corporation tax rising to 12 percent, a super-estate tax from 1 percent on 50 000 to 2 percent on over ten million, and individual incomes up to 40 percent for those earning over 500 000 annually.
