Funeral Service for Tabor Woman Held Thursday

Funeral services for Dora Walker of the Tabor community were conducted Thursday at 4 p.m. at Alexander Methodist Church by Rev. Jesse Thomsen. Interment followed at Alexander Cemetery. She was born October 1872 and died Wednesday afternoon at a Searles hospital. She leaves six sons and four daughters in the Tabor area and Goose Creek communities.

A. and M. Tech Hi Y Club delegates will attend the Older Boys Conference February 24 to 26. Members include Robert Lee Burley and others with ex members T Holland and Elden Calloway also attending. The group will travel by train and return Sunday night.

School Children Plan to Observe Washington Day

Bryan and Brazos county school children plan a Washington’s Birthday party Saturday morning at 9 30 at the Palace Theatre. The program features Yorktown from Yale’s Chronicles of United States history and Washington the Man and the Capital. The Allen Academy band will provide music, Boy and Girl Scouts will usher, and Parent Teacher Associations with the Daughters of the American Revolution will host.

Smetana School Grounds Ready For Beautification

Miss Blanche Brown and Leroy Sapp assisted in locating trees and plants for beautifying the Smetana school grounds. Commissioner Fred Wehrman led crews digging post holes and prep work, with J F Rosborough and others moving live oaks from Wellborn area.

Bible class begins at First Baptist led by Dr. Brooks

A Monday 7 p m Bible study at First Baptist with Dr. T D Brooks of A and M College opened a lecture series on The Secrets of Sunday School Teaching The hour long session runs 7 to 8 pm and books are free from the church Enrollment lists numerous attendees with many couples and single participants.

Annual Plant Exchange at Brazos County Farmers Market

The Brazos county annual plant exchange will be held at the Farmers Market in Bryan Saturday morning starting at 1 o'clock. Miss Blanch Brown says rural women will bring native plants and Bryan club women will bring privet and similar varieties. Bryan clubwomen will help with the event and aim to finish by noon so attendees can go to the fat stock show at A and M College in the afternoon.
