Local church prayer service and baptism to follow adjourned conference

Regular mid week prayer service at First Baptist church tonight includes an adjourned conference. At the close the ordinance of baptism will be administered. M. E. Weaver, Pastor. Many locals and visitors are noted in town today with reports of business, illness, and travel.

Community Notes From Tabor Area Feb 12

Farmers hope for a good season as limited rain fell. Reverend Smith preached at Cottonwood and Reverend Storey spoke at Tabor high school with a small crowd. Alexander church pastor Reverend Philips organized a Sunday school with John Walker as superintendent. The welfare club and Red Cross volunteers contributed to local efforts.

Clothing Our Soldier Boys Draws Local Support

Mrs. Thomas, mother of Mrs. J. L. Sample, knits socks and has six sweaters completed as part of a clothing effort for soldiers. Miss Jennie Hopkins and Reuben Sample visited Steep Hollow on Sunday, with Lola Foster joining them homeward. Mary Benbow stays with Mrs. Will Presnal, while Mr. and Mrs. R. I. Harrison return from Camp Travis where they visited sons Esteen and Nathanial.

Harvey Notes: Rain, School, and Local Sports Update

The Harvey community welcomes a slow weekend rain aiding oats and gardens. Miss Gillespie visited the local school for the tomato canning club. An aviator sighting occurred as an Aunt Ida Salard suffered a facial injury after a fall near a horse. she is recovering after treatment. Harvey defeated Wellborn 24 to 3 in boys basketball. girls won 17 to 11 at the schoolhouse. Teachers Ford and Jones plan to enlist soon, risking school upheaval without substitutes.

Party Guests Grace and Beauty at Steep Hollow Event

Misses Tommie Todd of Steep Hollow and Grace Gandy of Wellborn lent charm to the party while Grace Gandy provided lively piano music. Pr J C Davidson has recovered from a severe two week sickness. Cattle owners welcome the returning grass after a hard winter and drought with almost no pasture.
