It mocks city editors and distant readers while recounting a humorous tale of a moonless turkey robbery and a country scribe’s joy in simple foods. The piece blends satire with regional pride and playful digressions.
The Galveston Bar Association held a dinner at the Cosmopolitan Hotel with General T N Wall presiding. Speakers included Chief Justice Roberts, Hon W R Bailinger, Major Hume, Mr Herring of Waco, Captain J T Beall of Bryan, Judge Devine, Judge Gould, Colonel Flournoy and Major Bassett.
Secretary Sam E Eberstadt was the featured speaker at the Bryan Lions Club noon luncheon in the Episcopal church parlor. He spoke on Engendering Enthusiasm and outlined goals for Bryan including expanded rural community work, praising the Lions for their pep and programs.

Mrs J L Edge reported on the Brazos Federation of Church Societies and urged approval for a public mass meeting to discuss Week Day Bible Study. Attendees included Mesdames Fritz Lehman W G Reynolds Della Wooten C H Holmes T A Cloud Alice Cole Chas Moehlman J L Edge and Rev and Mrs C B Thompson.
Wellborn residents praised a WBAP Fort Worth Star Telegram broadcast from First Methodist Church. An Eagle representative wired a temporary hookup for Wellborn listeners, joining the service at 11 o clock and enjoying music and choir. They did not contribute to the collection plate.
Family members staged a surprise dinner at the McNeeley home in honor of Mr and Mrs S H Brockman on their forty sixth wedding anniversary and Mrs Brockman's birthday. A bountiful noon meal accompanied by many affectionate toasts and the presence of grandchildren made the day a joyous family celebration.
A Marlin city commission committee W E Derden W S Bowden and C T Curry inspected Bryan sewage plants Tuesday with City Manager J Bryan Miller guiding the tour. They praised Bryan's odor free operation and plan to potentially copy its system while noting Marlin's plant is aging and overwhelmed by growth.
