The Bryan Booster notes a tri motor mail plane company seeks to serve Bryan but cannot find a suitable landing field. It argues cities without established airports will be left out as air travel expands, and Bryan should have an airport to stay in the corridor of regular air service.
Miss Hattie Elaine White now living in Los Angeles sends Christmas greetings to Bryan friends from Corte de Jardin 2418 1 2 South Hope Street. Mrs. L L Melnnis invites Presidents' Club to her 29th Street home for the regular December meeting on Thursday 27 at 3 p.m. Dr and Mrs Hiram Coulter of Rockdale and their daughter Helen Coulter visit Bryan for Christmas with Mrs J W Coulter and family. Mr and Mrs J Y Baker of Alvarado and Mrs John Heron with daughter Margaret join Ernest B Elliott family in Bryan for the holidays.
The woman killed in the International Great Northern passenger train wreck near Palestine has been identified as Laura Goelitz a 20 year old daughter of G A Goelitz of San Antonio. Identification was made by pictures carried in her handbag.
Bolivia replied to a Pan American conference questionnaire on arbitration and conciliation about mediating the Paraguayan Bolivian dispute. The Bolivian legation in Washington said the tone of the answer was favorable.
Led by Bob Jordan, 25 players from Central Union high school Fort Worth Texas traveled toward the Pacific coast aiming for a decisive victory over Los Angeles all prep team next Saturday.
Irving Berlin Jr. the 24 day old son of the songwriter died from a heart attack. His death is said to have prompted a reconciliation between his parents and Clarence Mackay president of the Postal Telegraph Company who had been estranged since the 1926 marriage. Mackay visited the bereaved home to offer condolences.
Lincoln dispatch reports coach Dana X. Bible will depart Texas A and M to become head football coach at Nebraska. He leaves Sept 1 after eleven years at A and M with five Southwestern Conference championships. Nebraska athletic board confirms signing. Bible plans a public statement tomorrow.
The Exchange National Bank of Denton failed to open today. A sign on the door said the bank was closed by order of the board of directors and the affairs were in the hands of the bank examiner. The bank was capitalized for 400000 dollars.
I. P. Renfro veteran of the Mexican and Civil Wars and Angelina county’s oldest resident was buried under cedar trees he planted 50 years ago. He would have turned 100 in three months. Survived by son John Renfro a state representative from Nacogdoches and Tyler counties.
Mrs. J. W. Brosig of Navasota has been appointed a life member in the United States Good Roads association by Director General J. A. Rountree of Birmingham Alabama. She will receive an engraved certificate and may attend the Memphis Tennessee convention to take part in deliberations.
The body of W. M. Wignall, 66, was recovered after he apparently drowned when he fell into the Sabine River while gathering firewood near Orange.
A man a woman and an eight year old boy were jailed in Big Springs after the child said they trained him to rob store safes and cash drawers. He claimed to have robbed three local stores last winter while the adults distracted clerks and added similar thefts in San Angelo and other towns.
Ennis Seamans aged 32 was shot to death at his home in Brownwood after borrowing a rifle from relatives. The incident occurred on December 26, authorities say.
New York reports 24,592,370 registered motor vehicles in the United States for 1928, a gain of 1,463,055. Passenger cars total 21,468,596, motor trucks 3,123,774. New York leads with 2,090,815 vehicles, Texas 1,111,407. Domestic passenger car sales reach about 3,075,000. many earlier cars were scrapped or retired.
Mr and Mrs J D E Fuller of College Park mourn their daughter Frances Bamby Fuller who died Christmas day evening after a brief illness. She was 5 years 3 months 27 days old. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 PM at City Cemetery Bryan with Rev Jesse Thompson officiating. Interment directed by McCulloch Dansby funeral directors. Survived by her parents a younger sister and J E D Fuller a history teacher at A M.
The wedding notice states Grace Porter daughter of Mrs Ladra Co Porter married Ben ton W Holmes on Sunday November 25 1928 in Midland Texas. At home after December 1 1928 the couple reside in Monahans Texas Grace Porter taught in Bryan schools this year as the first term teacher.
Christmas Eve service at St Andrew s Episcopal church drew a large crowd, with a human Christmas tree and Sunday School children dressed as gifts. Santa distributed candy and fruit as George Griffin and Miss Jennie Hill Barry led the midnight program, and gifts were given to Rev and Mrs Daup.

Special to The Eagle reports New Orleans December 26 forecast for Bryan and vicinity. Tonight clouds and unsettled conditions expected with possible rain and colder air. Thursday should be fair with improving conditions and lighter winds.
A Pan American arbitration conference panel of nine judges is proposed to determine causes and responsibilities of the Paraguayan Bolivian dispute. Each country would appoint two judges and the conference would appoint five. The plan has been submitted to both governments for approval.
Miss Elizabeth Holt a Bryan high school teacher and Mr John Murphy Cook of the A and M College textile department were quietly married Monday at 8 30 am in the First Christian church Houston. Rev A F Ainsworth of Bryan performed the double ring ceremony. They will reside in Bryan with Mrs Cook continuing teaching until mid term and Mr Cook returning to the college after a short honeymoon.
Los Angeles reports the death of Fred Thompson a screen actor known for western parts. He passed away last night after failing to recover from surgery performed three weeks prior for gall stones.
Doctor D. B. Johnson aged 72, a Southern educator and president of Winthrop College for Women in Rock Hill South Carolina, died today after a lengthy illness.

Hannibal Mo December 26 Laura Frazier aged 91 longtime Mark Twain boyhood sweetheart and Becky Thatcher of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer died last night at her son Judge L E Frazier home.
Mr and Mrs C W Webster of Van Wert Ohio en route to visit their son C B Webster were in the Sunshine Special wreck near Palestine last Sunday. They are resting in the Howell apartments. Mr Webster's injuries are less serious and he cannot walk yet. Mrs Webster recovered from the shock and is improving. C B Webster traveled to Palestine and brought them here yesterday.
Weldon Lucas of Waco was unanimously elected captain of the 1929 Baylor University football team. Lucas has played two years on the Bear team and is an end from Waco high school. Twenty men received letters at the meeting, including captain Adrain Pete Jones and student manager Leonard Green. Six lettermen ended their Bear careers after the 1928 season: Noble Washam Bullock Griffin Newberry and Jones.
In Denton a Christmas package mailed in 1922 to O. P. Taylor by Mrs. C. A. Tripp arrived last week to his relatives. Taylor died two years before the gift reached them, while the small package apparently sat lost for six years.
President and Mrs. Coolidge arrived in Brunswick Georgia and immediately left for Sapelo Island for a mid winter vacation hosted by Howard Coffin. A citizens committee welcomed the presidential party as they stepped from the train.
Roy Sinor theatre manager was burned in a gas explosion at his office in Pampa. He was unable to explain how the blast occurred and likely fatally injured.
Rebecca Hall daughter of T P Hall and Harvey Blanton of San Antonio married at 11 30 in the morning at the First Baptist Church of Bryan. Rev R E Day presided and the couple left for their new home in Baltimore Maryland.
Nine year old Edward Crawford, deaf and dumb since meningitis, was blinded in Texarkana after dynamite caps exploded during a holiday celebration in Benbowland Arkansas. One eye was removed and doctors fear the other may be lost. Santa plans to visit him in hospital Monday night.
Two volunteer firemen were killed and eight injured when their apparatus plunged down an embankment while racing to a blaze at the Carnegie Refining Company plant in Heidelberg. The fire began yesterday and the loss is estimated at 500000 dollars. Aged dead are Adolph Sonnett 30 and Joseph Depetro 45.
The local cotton market reported no change in futures while spot prices ranged from 18.50 to 19 per unit. Traders watched but prices remained firm with buyers and sellers at these levels.
In Hondo on December 25 a dispute over a pint of milk led to a shooting that killed Louis Arcos, a dairyman, and his two sons, Lene aged 70 and Alfonso and Joe. Authorities charge Arcos with murder as the case develops.
The Christmas tree service at the Methodist church Monday evening was well attended by Sunday School youths and many adults. A Santa Claus setup featured a wide chimney and fireplace with St. Nicholas appearing in costume. He spoke briefly to the children and handed out candy and fruit gifts.
Mrs Frances Nemec aged years wife of Jacob Nemec of Smetana community died at home Monday night after a long illness. She was the sole surviving family member. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 30 from Saint Josephs church Bryan with Rev J B Gliessner officiating. Burial followed in Mt Calvary cemetery with McCulloch Dansby funeral directors in charge.
Richard Kenney age 18 of Boston was electrocuted at his parents home after reaching from a bath tub to an electric heater in what police described as a fatal accident. The tragedy occurred in town, with investigators examining the electrical setup and circumstances surrounding the bath tub incident.
London December 26 reports say after two doctors spent hours at the palace there is no change in King George’s condition since the last medical bulletin which indicated a slow improvement.
New York December 26 Messages and Christmas greetings were sent to members of the Byrd Antarctic expedition from around the world. Thousands of words of sentiment were transmitted to the explorers via short wave radio from the New York Times.
