Aggie Athletes Honor Bell at Banquet in College Station

Lettermen from Texas A&M honored Madison Bell retiring head of the physical education department and football coach at a banquet in the college mess hall. Awards, trophies and varsity letters were presented to 21 football players, five cross country runners, and 29 freshman numerals, with Homer Norton introduced as the future Aggies coach. The Cadets posted a 6 5 season percentage and strong conference marks, including a 13 6 win over Tulane.

Cotton Campaign Opens Tuesday Evening at Rye

The Brazos county 4-H club session at Rye launched the new cotton campaign with a program on cotton problems. A & M student speakers led by J. D. Cunningham reviewed government acreage reductions and price trends, noting an $340 advantage for a 28 acre plow up, supported by August Merka example. Rye 4-H reported 100 percent attendance and elected Annie Mae Merka president and Albina Severa secretary, with music accompanying the program.

Dan Clinton Named Harris County Agent in Texas Extension

George W. Johnson announces D. D. Clinton, Falls county agent, as the new Harris county agent effective December 16. Clinton, a 1921 A&M graduate, has led county programs in terracing, home meat supply, and boys 4-H in Falls, Colorado, Burleson, and Fel ls counties. W. I. Ross will succeed him in Falls. G. C. Ellisor moves to Austin as emergency agent. T. D. Craddock named assistant Harris county agent. M. B. Wierman transferred to Navarro as emergency assistant.

Appointment of new home demonstration agents announced

Miss Mildred Horton state home demonstration agent said a successor to Miss Opal Roberson Harris county agent and a new assistant agent will be announced soon as part of ongoing club and farm program activities in Cottle and Falls counties.

Count Ilya Tolstoy Dead at 68 in New Haven

Count Ilya Tolstoy, 68, son of the Russian novelist, died yesterday at New Haven hospital after being treated for a combination of ailments. He had come from Tolstoy Hill in Southbury, a hill named for his family, on September 18.
