Open House Draws Crowd to Park's Jewelry Store

Friday night opening attracted hundreds of visitors to the new Park's Jewelry Store in Park. The event featured a refreshed interior with electric fixtures, new display cases, plants, and a mezzanine office suite. Dallas Chamber Good Will Tour Visits Bryan and College Campus

The Dallas Chamber of Commerce Good Will Tour halted in Bryan with 125 officials and a 30 piece brass band. Visitors toured Texas A&M College Campus and met Bryan business leaders while distributing souvenirs. Wilbur S. Shaw of the Dallas Times-Herald noted the long journey across 1225 miles ending near Dallas.

East Texas crop prospects praised by County Agent Beason

County Agent C L Beason reports from Panola County that East Texas farmers expect a bountiful crop this year with ideal conditions. He notes no rain delays yet plenty of moisture, cites Beckville gardens as striking, and credits scientific farming and business sense for regional prosperity. He traveled from Beaumont north through Harrison County and elsewhere, finding dry areas but overall optimism.

Hearne Man Shot On Farm Near Valley Junction

Henry Armstrong of Hearne was shot in the left leg last night by a Negro shooter. The incident occurred on a farm between Hearne and Valley Junction. Armstrong was brought to Bryan on the 4 o clock train and admitted to Bryan Hospital for treatment. He previously lived in Bryan.

Son of Mr and Mrs N A Stewart Breaks Arm in Horsefall

Arthur Stewart son of Mr and Mrs N A Stewart fell from a horse Sunday while visiting his grandmother Mrs S A Goodwin. He sustained a fracture of the right arm with both bones broken. His parents were present and he was taken to town for setting the bones and is recovering as well as could be expected.

Two men wounded in dairy farm shooting near College Station

I. O. Durham, a duty soldier, was jailed after suffering two bullet wounds to the legs. E. L. Dillon, a dairy helper, is reported wounded at his home. The shooting occurred at the home of E. R. Duke, foreman at a College dairy farm, about 3:30 Sunday morning.

Tabor Senior Class Play Presented at Edge

The Tabor high school senior class, aided by 10th graders and two teachers, staged Valley Farm at Edge school Friday night. The show drew a packed audience and netted $43 for school purposes. Mrs. W G Colson directed and may stage the production at Franklin soon.

B B Lee Fined in Monday Gaming Trial

B D Lee faced Justice J W Hamilton on Monday afternoon and was fined 20 dollars plus costs, about 50 dollars total. He was the first of five men tried on similar charges after a raid a week earlier on a Fin-Feather Club road house near City Secretary Guy P Bit tle, with County Attorney Oak McKenzie for the state and Lamar Bethea for the defense.

Bryan Woman Sells Houses in Caldwell

A large real estate deal closed last week as J. W. Harvey & Son bought two brick Echols street buildings occupied by J. Louis Giddings and Ben Sullivan from Mrs. Tom Ewing of Bryan. Mrs. Ewing also becomes owner of a Prairiedale farm formerly owned by Harvey & Son. The Harveys say the properties were bought as an investment with no immediate plans beyond tenant needs.

McCulloch Ford Coupe and Driver Arrested in Eldorado

Sheriff Conlee reports a long chase ending with the seizure of a stolen W. I. McCulloch Ford coupe and its driver, initially sighted in Liberty Texas. A telegram from Sheriff Nelson and a confirming letter led to the arrest in Eldorado Arkansas after tracing from Corsicana Wortham and the Smack over Oil Field.

Largest Gasper Gould Caught in Section Weighs 25 Pounds

A Bryan fishing party Noto Walker and Schepto spent Thursday night on the Navasota and returned Friday with nearly 100 pounds of fish. Among the catch was a gasper Gould weighing 25 pounds, the largest of its kind on a hook in this section and among the largest ever seen.

Ice Plant Opens in Bryan With New Stephan and Ferguson Facility

The Steph an Ice and Bottling Company opens in Bryan under George Stephan and Judge H O Ferguson. The $70,000 plant, completed in under four months, features a 22 ton daily capacity, a 175 ton cold storage vault, ammonia cooling, and a scoring machine approved by the Texas weights and measures department to ensure 25 50 and 100 pound cuts.

Allen Academy Band Delights Reliance Crowd With Concert

The Allen Academy Band of thirty under Prof. Anton Ernst performed in Reliance Saturday night at the invitation of Secretary S E Eberstadt. Negro swindler fined after charity scam in Bryan

L C Wilson, a local Black man, was fined 30 dollars after pleading guilty to swindling. He posed as a charity collector for the Colored Orphans Home near Old Bonneville and deceived Bryan business leaders, obtaining money and groceries. The home’s superintendent denied any solicitors and condemned the fraud as damaging to the institution’s reputation. A stray black sow with white belting is offered for reward in Ta bor.
