Cananea Fire Leaves 2000 Homeless in Mexican Copper Camp

Relief efforts led by the Red Cross target more than 2,000 homeless after a major blaze destroyed over 200 homes in Cananea Mexico. The fire gutted the business district and caused an estimated loss of about 200000 dollars in the mining town near the border.

Man Sentenced to Life for Assault on Nurse

Apr 22 in Mempstead Arthur Collier was sentenced to life imprisonment in the state penitentiary after a district court verdict for criminal assault on a Houston nurse. The defense reportedly will not appeal.

Bryan Lions win district attendance prize at Brownwood meet

The Bryan Lions led by C A Searcy and 12 members traveled 500 miles to Brownwood Texas for the District Lions meeting April 20 21. Over 800 Lions and 87 clubs attended as Bryan posted a 38 percent attendance earning a large Lion Shield. Houston was named next meeting site with E V Cravens elected District Governor for 1925.

LeRoy Trice's Body Sent to Longview

The body of LeRoy Trice formerly manager of the International Great Northern Railway was forwarded to his Longview home today. He died yesterday after arriving in Mineral Wells for his health and was among the best known railway men in the state.

Bryan Party Enjoyed San Jacinto Fishing Trip

About fifteen Bryan residents motor out to the long trestle near Coxs saw mill on the Navasota river Monday afternoon. They spent the night, fished about 100 pounds of fish, and hunted 75 squirrels before returning on Tuesday. The party included Dr and Mrs Lamar Jones and several other local families.

Four Fifths Town Burned Near Bynum Destruction Hits Hills County

A major fire swept through the commercial district of Bynum in Hill County nearly destroying most businesses. Firefighters fought the blaze through the night as flames consumed storefronts and left extensive damage. No injuries were reported.
