Wheat and Rye Crop Is Short

The Department of Agriculture forecasts winter wheat production at 483,617,000 bushels and rye at 75,891,000 bushels. The condition of winter wheat on April 1 was 75.6 percent of normal, with rye at 86.8 percent.

Brazos County to Levy Tax for State School Fund

In April 1920 the Court authorizes a local tax levy not to exceed 50 cents per $100 valuation to supplement the State School Fund for Common School District No. 4 Peach Creek. J S Barker named due return to the county commissioners court for a general election.

Allen Academy Boys Concert at Tabor

About forty Allen Academy students from the band orchestra and glee club traveled to Tabor Saturday night to present an entertainment. Eight cars filled to the limit conveyed the party and the Tabor high school lot was full. The program opened with three band numbers followed by glee club pieces and then instrumental solos and group performances by the orchestra. Violin solos by Mr Irwin Ernst drew special praise for their sweet tone. Professors W D Chambers and R O Allen were introduced with brief remarks before the program closed with two more items.

Control Board Law Upheld by High Court

Austin April 14 The supreme court upheld the constitutionality of the act creating a state board of control in response to thirty five questions from the third court of civil appeals in Ayers versus Cowell. The decision held the board's control and transfer of lunatic asylum duties did not violate asylum management provisions.

Fine numbers by band lead to ice cream served at Tabor event

The crowd enjoyed an informal gathering under Professor Bobo of Tabor High School. Teachers from the district attended and local men ferried the Acad emy boys to the scene. A small admission fee funded library benefits for the schools.

Victor B Graham Dies in Magnolia Petroleum Plant Explosion

Five men died in an explosion at Magnolia Petroleum Company in Beaumont. Victor B Graham, 29, of Brazos County, was not killed instantly and later succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night. Survived by wife and three children, he was buried Sunday at Bright Light church cemetery after a funeral by Rev. J. E. Smith.
