Jersey Cow Gamboge Fox's Lady Rosette Sets A700 Pound Record

The West Texas Teachers' College in Canyon Texas reports Gamboge Fox's Lady Rosette set a 700 pound butterfat record in the second Register of Merit test. At 6 years 8 months she produced 705.66 pounds of butterfat and 14,848 pounds of milk in 365 days, with prior junior results of 603.98 pounds butterfat and 11,375 pounds milk for a Silver Medal. The cow descends from Gambage Knight's Fox and Lady Rosette of N. S. dam has four Register of Merit records.

Beautiful Easter Service By Presbyterians

The First Presbyterian church held a simple yet beautiful Easter morning service with enhanced choir music led by Mrs. Roy Danforth and organist F. D. Fuller. Local ministers Rev. O. W. Nelson and Rev. W. H. Mathews delivered readings and sermons, praising resurrection power and Christian living. A telegram from Rev. Thomas Gordon Watts of Milledgeville confirmed his acceptance of the pastorate, arriving by early May.

Christians Plan Erection of $20,000 Church Building

The Christian church building committee met at Geo A Adams home to approve plans for a concrete and brick church costing about $20,000. The lot is cleared and construction may begin this month with a full size sub-story to house Sunday School rooms. Public push for financing will proceed at once.

John Bowen, a negro, was found lunatic at a Thursday trial and will be taken to the state asylum at Austin soon.

John Coulson of Iola Dead

John Coulson aged 51 a resident of Iola Grimes County died Thursday night at the home of Mr and Mrs W Wortham after weeks of illness He had come to the city for treatment and stayed with friends He is survived by his widow nine children and other relatives The body was shipped to Iola for interment and the funeral was held there this afternoon.

Easter Egg Hunt At CA Baptist Sunday School

The Junior Department of College Avenue Baptist Sunday School held an Easter egg hunt and picnic on Friday from 4 to 6 pm. Mrs. Locke McNeeley oversaw the event with assistants. Seventy five children attended at a flower covered hillside near Carters Creek. Colored eggs hid among clover and blossoms. A picnic supper ended the pleasant outing.

Committees Named For Methodist Missionary Meeting

The Woman's Missionary Society at First Methodist Church named numerous committees for the 15th annual Texas Conference session to be held in Bryan April 13 to 16. Delegates and chairpersons were chosen to meet trains, arrange transportation, decorate the church, register attendees, and handle pages and federation work. The list includes many named members and delegates from Houston Tyler and Bryan districts.

Sailor Survives 70 Foot Fall Over Colorado River Dam

Gus Henderson a world trotter and Lake Austin boatkeeper escaped death when a gasoline launch rode by a swift current over the Colorado River dam forming Lake Austin. The craft dropped seventy feet into fragments but prompt aid saved him from drowning. Henderson called it nothing more than a spill and compared to past shipwrecks.

Jolly Princess of Oak Hill 386007, a mature Jersey cow owned by E. R. Alexander of Bryan Texas, completed her test in 296 days with a calf duration of 124 days. The record qualifies her for the Register of Merit of the American Jersey Cattle Club.

The Bryan Reading Club will award a $170 scholarship to a Brazos county girl who graduates from an accredited high school and plans to enter C. A. at Denton.
