J. A. Hill, Jr., of Corpus Christi, stopped in Bryan on Tuesday afternoon with his wife and baby while en route to Nacogdoches to visit her parents. A former A. and M. student from the classes of 1916 and 1917, he left to serve in the war and did not return to finish his course.

V. R. Smitham Named City Manager in Lufkin Texas

V R Smitham of Bryan named tentative city manager for Lufkin by the city commission. He is 35, an A and M College city manager course student, and a Lions Club member with engineering experience in highway and hydraulic work. He will assume duties June 15 after meeting with Lufkin commissioners.

Detroit April 14 The Maccabees will advance more than 5 million dollars in real estate mortgage loans to support home building in 1926. Over 1 million in Texas reserves and 8,053,000 nationwide. Last year loans totaled 5,279,000 as the fraternal society expands its home ownership policy. The order reports record gains for 1925 with 22,562 new members and 27,948,000 in insurance written, assets at 26,961,369, and 159,326,000 in benefits since 1878. Kidnappers Take Son From Juvenile Training School

A Houston family visited their 17 year old son at the Juvenile Training School in Gatesville. The men took the boy from the car after permission to see his mother, sped away, were pursued at McGregor, and jailed on a complaint by Superintendent King. The boy was returned to the school.

M rs Anna A Eberstadt Died After Illness in Jefferson

Mrs Anna A Eberstadt mother of Secretary Sam Eberstadt of the Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce died at 3 25 o clock at her Jefferson home after a 10 day illness from a dislocated hip. Secretary Eberstadt and other relatives were at her bedside when death occurred. No funeral arrangements had been made.

Bruno Martinelli Visits Bryan on Business

Rev Bruno Martinelli formerly head of the Italian Methodist church in Bryan spent the day on business and left on the afternoon train for New Orleans. His wife died March 19 in New Orleans. He is now pastor of St Marks Community House in New Orleans and leads Italian Mission Work at a $150 000 church plant with a nurse and staff.

Allen Academy Trounces San Marcos Baptists 12–1

Allen Academy baseball thrashed visiting San Marcos Baptist Academy 12 to 1 on Allen Field. Bethea pitched a one hitter with 14 strikeouts over six innings, while Gilchrist allowed 10 Allen hits. A Floydada man and two sons are jailed after the killing of Harvey Snodgrass, 50, in front of the First National Bank. Dan Shipley, 52, Mae Shipley, 30, and Frank Shipley, 28, face murder charges. no formal statements have been issued. Both families have lived in Floyd County over 30 years.

County Agent C L Benson reports fine cabbage and onions grown by Miss Gussie Endler of Kurten. Onions weigh about a pound and a half each, cabbage heads near five pounds, among the firmest exhibited this season. Endler avoids premature seeding with careful seed selection and fertilization.
