John H. Lehmann Sentenced to Six Years In the Pen

John H. Lehmann former manager of the Washington County Warehouse Company pleaded guilty in Dis Court to embezzlement and theft by bailee and received three years in the penitentiary in each case for a total six year term. He left by automobile for Huntsville to begin serving his sentence following sentencing. The charges stem from sale of cotton stored at the warehouse and appropriation of funds received therefor.

Farm Population Declines by Half Million in 1925

The Department of Agriculture estimates 30,655,000 people lived on farms on January 1 1926, down from 21,134,000 a year earlier, signaling a substantial rural population drop of about half a million. Washington reported April 7.

News of Miss Versie Crenshaw's death at her parents' Bryan home on Union Hill spread today. After ten days of pneumonia, she died Tuesday night April 6 at 10 30. She was 36 years 3 months 2 days old.
