Snyder Cyclone Tears Through Town Killing Dozens

Reports from Guthrie indicate a devastating tornado struck Snyder Oklahoma causing massive destruction. Between 100 and 400 feared dead with dozens of business losses and fifty freight cars blown away as relief trains rush to the Kiowa county town.

Two Trains Collide in Harrisburg Dynomite Crash

A Reading Railroad express collided with a freight train carrying two cars of dynamite at South Harrisburg near Paxtang early May 11. Three huge explosions wrecked the trains, many killed or injured, some hurled into the Susquehanna River. Rescue crews, police, and hospitals struggled as the scene burned and workers evacuated the injured.

In Louisville on May 11, S. S. Brown's Agile won the Kentucky Derby by three lengths over Ram's Horn with Layson well back. Agile finished the mile and a quarter in 2.10 and an attendance of 20,000 was recorded. In Hoston, Miss., Pete Evans, identified as a negro, killed O. E. Dehay, a prominent planter, with a double barreled shotgun.
