Schuyler Nebraska May 10 President Roosevelt lauded Nebraska progress and the education of its youth. He praised the citizens honesty decency and common sense linking character to national strength and civil duty while highlighting school attention and future citizens.
Secretary Wilson and department officials head a travel group touring the south west to study agriculture. The Rock Island line joins a Chicago departure to Memphis with stops at Little Rock Oklahoma City and other points for farmer education meetings on congress funded projects.
Secretary Taft, commissioner general of immigration, returned from New Orleans where he attended the landing of 765 Italians from Palermo. About twenty were refused due to not meeting legal requirements. The immigrants will work mainly on plantations in Louisiana and other southern states.
The twelfth annual convention of the Oklahoma and Indian Territory Firemen's association met with about fifty delegates in Muskogee. Visitors were treated to a trolley car ride over the city before business began.

A St Petersburg dispatch to the Exchange reports the Russian cruisers Almaz and Jemtchug from Rear Admiral Voelkers division have eluded Japanese warships and reached Vladivostok, posing a strategic move in the Far East.
