Seventh Annual Street Fair Showcases Farm Displays

The seventh annual street fair drew crowds Friday and Saturday with record entries in grains fruits and farm products. Exhibits included corn pumpkins beets squash and cakes while horse and mule shows drew large crowds and pulling matches closed the event. Awards names include Dan Purdin Ernest Dodson C C Dodson Walter Sayers Tom Bennett and many more for best ears of corn fruit and baked goods. The Browning Band provided free music and donors supported the floral hall building project.

How To Make Vinegar For Home Use

A farm or city housewife can ensure pure strong vinegar by following directions from Miss Xirri Pan of the Missouri College of Agriculture. Fill a barrel two thirds full and expose a surface to air. Create two inch holes on opposite sides near the top and bottom to allow air flow without spillover.

A 19th century note describes drawing off cider to ferment into vinegar, with repeated cycles possible every three or four weeks. It advises straining the gar after drawing off and storing in tightly stoppered vessels to preserve strength.
