Funeral Services Held for J C Sayers in Haseville

John Crockett Sayers 82 died October 7 1944 after a five month illness. He taught school in his youth and married Margaret Young in 1886. Survived by wife five children 21 grandchildren 17 great grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral Tuesday October 10 at Haseville Methodist Church with Rev O B Hobbs. interment in Haseville Cemetery under Masonic Lodge supervision.

Daring Rescue of Infan Tile Paralysis Victim

Lt. Robert Wesselhoeft of Westwood Mass. survived 14 days alive by improvised respiration in western China after paralysis struck. An Air Force rescue included a three and a half hour flight in a liaison plane, a 1500 foot runway build, and a 17000 foot Hump crossing to reach Calcutta where an iron lung saved him. Accompanying rescuers were Lt. John Partanen and S Sgt Clyde Foushee.
