Willis Walter Brantner born June 6 1881 died November 7 1937 at Grim Smith Hospital Kirksville aged 56 years 5 months 1 day. Survived by wife Ethel two children Erman and Alpha grandchildren Richard Erman Joyce Lucile Brantner two brothers and one sister. Interment Baker Cemetery November 9 1937.

Dr John R Kirk of Kirksville Missouri died Sunday November 7 at age 86 after a stroke. Funeral services were held November 11 in Kirk Auditorium with 1809 mourners, the largest funeral crowd in Kirksville. He served 26 years as president and 12 years as president emeritus of the State Teachers College named for his achievements. He led Missouri in state superintendent roles and rural education uplift, shaping teacher training nationwide.
