The Burlington Railroad pleads for help from parents and school authorities to curb trespassing on railroad property during vacation seasons. Officials cite tragic accidents, including two child deaths on BurlingtonProperty, and urge caution to prevent further injuries and deaths.
Herman Russell Martin, son of Kenneth and Mrs Martin, was born October 3 1934 in Browning Missouri. He died May 12 1938 in Seminole Oklahoma at age 3 years 7 months 9 days after a brief illness. He attended the Cradle Roll at The First Baptist Church Seminole. He is survived by his parents a sister Beverly Ann a brother Phillip Lee two grandmothers and numerous relatives. The body returned to Browning and buried in Kaifong cemetery with a prayer for the resurrection.
All parties interested in the Hoover cemetery are asked to attend Tuesday May 24 at 1 p.m. to help prepare the cemetery for Decoration Day. Bring mowers and tools. General Purpose Club.
The Pleasant Hill Township Board states that no debts will be made or paid unless two members of the Board agree. This reflects a two member consent rule governing financial actions by the township board.
Mrs. Joe Crookshanks hosted the Pur din church Women’s Club on May 4 with officers Mrs. James Street president and Mrs. Dayton Street vice president. Members heard a Mother themed program, enjoyed refreshments, and set a June 1 meeting with Mrs. Herbert Crookshanks.

The May 12 commencement at the M E Church drew a full house with seniors and rural graduates receiving diplomas. Notable speakers included Dr C A Martin and Superintendent John C Dutton. The event featured performances by the Senior Octet and Sextet and closed with benediction and a recessional.
Mrs. M. L. Haning will host the P E O's gathering Thursday afternoon in May. The event is expected to bring together local members for social fellowship and planned activities.
Fourteen members attended including Letha Bailey Laura Hamilton Cornelia Harmon Reba Hummel Bertha Haning Ada Bolling Jennie Epperson Jennie Glaze Eunice Dickinson Hinda Rush Lila Williams Floy Peterson Lorene Whaley and Nellie Seaman. Epperson gave a talk on Missouri's Hall of Fame. Haning read Mares Keithley’s requested poem The World We Make. Fuhrman prepared an article on Famous Homes of Missouri. Refreshments were provided by the hostess.
Those interested are invited to meet at the Dry Ridge cemetery on Thursday May 26 for a community cleaning event followed by a basket dinner.

Rev. C Roy Bisler will preach at the Church of Christ on Sunday May 22 in both morning and evening services.
At Friday's board meeting Mrs Vera Lay was elected to teach in the Primary Grades. She has experience and since last year was with the Laclede schools. Patrons approve her selection.
Willing Workers Club, hosted by Mrs. Fred Cotter, met May 1 with eleven members answering roll call. The group discussed stain remover tasks and lacked rag rags while welcoming new members Mrs. Ray Wattenbarger and Josephine. Next gathering is May 25 at Mrs. Forest Gooch with garden pest control as roll call. Visitors included Mrs. Cecil Taylor and Violett Hollon.
Mr and Mrs Roy M Calhoun were summoned to Kansas City Tuesday morning due to the serious illness of her brother A A Kinfong Rev and Mrs Owen accompanied them as escorts during the trip.
The seventh grade of Browning Elementary organized a May 11 outing for the eighth grade graduating class. They visited Chilli cothe Business College and Simp son’s Park, had dinner at Bell Cafe, then saw Joe Penner in Go Chase Yourself. Honorees listed: Bertie Gooch Margery Campbell Phyllis Vincent Russell Bartow Edgar Morelock M. W. Robison Junior Woolf. Rev C B Hobbs and Mr E F Williams accompanied.
A neighborhood farewell for Wilson Quigley was hosted at Jake Quigley’s home on Saturday May 14 as he leaves for San Diego to join the Navy for four years. Attendees share food, games, and a program of songs and readings about mothers, with blocks awarded for a quilt to two members.
A May fifth birthday for Marion Wyatt drew neighbors for a late evening surprise. About eight o clock the group gathered for cards games and candy and everyone wished Marion many more happy birthdays with several local families attending.
Mrs Faye Bailey hosted the Sunshine Workers Club on Wednesday May 11 for an all day quilting meeting. Thirteen members and two visitors attended. After a long day of sewing they enjoyed two dinners and prayer before president Mrs Earl Campbell led the afternoon business.

The Browning School and Browning Municipal Bands under Director E F Williams announce the first of a summer concert series during the week of May 23rd. A concert night will be selected to suit local merchants.
Fifteen members of the True Blue Club gathered at the Shafter school house on May 11. The program included songs, a Mother’s Day origin reading by Mrs. Tom Morris, poems about mothers, and a musical solo by Rosalie Gooch with piano accompaniment by her mother.
The Stitch and Chatter ladies gathered at Leah Lambert's on Thursday May 12 for dinner and a day of quilting and crafts. Doris was absent due to her children having whooping cough. Visitors Sadie Payne and Florence Foss attended. The group will meet again at Alpha Quigley's on May 26 and answer roll call with a grab bag.
About fifty residents gathered Sunday to watch local men and boys play ball in the school yard. The crowd grows weekly and attendees report a lot of fun, though plans for next Sunday remain uncertain.
