Daniel Mummy Smith born February 23 1860 in Sullivan County Missouri died April 16 1938 at his home near Vici Oklahoma at age 78 1 24. He married Nannie Clawson in 1886 who died in 1890 and then Annie Linhart in 1894. They had seven children four of whom died before him. He is survived by his wife three daughters Ida Lynes Oklahoma City Oklahoma Myrtle Larson and Evince Wingo both of Vici Oklahoma five grandchildren Thelma Pauline and others.

The girls high school vocal quartet Imogene Hanman Nona Clair Neet Margaret Bagley Hazel Maggart and Clayton Harris baritone performed at the State Musical Festival in Columbia Saturday. Sottsville students ended an eight month term with perfect attendance. Miss Virginia Moffitt led a closing day April 22 as neighbors arrived with baskets for a well hosted dinner. Youth Drowns While Swimming Near Linneus
Joel Wintersheid, a youth from near Linneus, drowned Sunday after cramps struck him during a swim with four companions. The body was taken to Brookfield where a motorized pull was used but could not revive him due to travel time. The Linneus farm pond was the incident site and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Linneus attended by family members including Keithleys and Bakers.
