Voter turnout surged in Benton township with clear leads for Browning and Purdin candidates. In Sullivan and Enterprise townships Democrats swept offices, while North Salem saw strong Republican gains amid a busy election day.

Dr Lorance of London England gave a talk and Atty P M Marr spoke on Medical Jurisprudence. About twenty couples shared dinner and the ladies enjoyed a picture show. The next meeting will be in Brookfield.

County report from J W Burch notes the State Corn Hog Committee set April 1 as the closing date to accept 1935 corn hog contract applications. Estimated statewide signers reach about 86 percent of 110000. many non signers are from low bases or consolidated contracts. Farmers planning to sign should contact their township committeeman or the County Agent’s office now.
A public auction will sell household and lawn furniture and garden tools on Saturday March 30. The sale begins at one o clock on the lot west of the Electric Theatre. Wallace Grice conducts the sale.

A Wednesday dust storm, one of the worst to hit the region, darkened the air with fine particles. It blanketed homes and objects, caused breathing trouble and many coughs, and left a pervasive layer of dust everywhere after it passed across Missouri from Colorado and Kansas.

A Linn County farmer writes County Agent Hall reporting daily similar letters. He notes plans to restore crop production loans this spring as in recent years, but funds may miss the oat seeding window since no applications have been received yet.
A farmer writes for help with seed money for oats soybeans corn and Sudan seed worth about 50 dollars. He offers a crop mortgage or to secure the loan with his last corn hog check and notes 60 dollars due minus expenses. He urges a quick decision as sowing time is near.
An experiment shows horses on two parts black strap molasses and one part bran with hay perform as well as those fed corn oats and hay. Molasses with hay reduces feed costs, as Linn County sellers offer the mix at about half the price of corn.

The Stitch and Chatter Club met with Camora Abbott on March 21, 23 members attended, six visitors joined, and members completed three quilts and embroidery projects. Several members announced moves, future meetings were scheduled, and a basket making activity was planned with a scramble lunch. A fire near the late E. B. Fields residence caused damage but was contained with help from the fire engine.

On Monday Carlos Mace driving a team and buggy on a route near the Ware home fell through a bridge with his mail. He escaped with no serious injuries after freeing his horses and vehicle, though the team became stuck in mud and water and were left at Will Cordray's barn.
J. L. Clevenger notes the Duncan township clerk and assessor roles were involved in the recent Democratic primary.
Sunday night brought heavy rainfall across the state with a northwest cloudburst around eight o clock Monday morning. The downpour halted sowing and disrupted forecasts of a dry year. A few warm days ahead could spur early grass growth, aiding farmers after a long winter of scarce feed.
