Mr and Mrs Guy Cotter of Albany Oregon arrived here one day. The short notice notes their visit and traces their travel from Oregon to this locale.

Mrs Georgie Owens Johnson died at 3764 Highland Avenue Kansas City after an eight month illness. Widow of A B Johnson she lived in Kansas City twenty five years and was born Georgie Owens Turner daughter of the late C F Turner. Survived by her mother Mrs Helen Turner two brothers Curtis and Leon Turner of Kansas City and sister Mrs Homer E Jewett of Tulsa Oklahoma.

Mr and Mrs J W Crookshanks and Mrs Merlin Stansberry of Purdin were injured when their car collided with a Plymouth coupe driven by Val Evans of Brookfield near the Art Johnson place. Mrs Crookshanks and Mrs Stansberry suffered bruises. Mr Crookshanks head and hip were injured. Evens escaped harm. Ambulance and doctor aided victims at the scene. Funeral details for a local elder are included, noting a lifetime in the church and family tributes.
George Francis Pearl born March 30 1848 in Frederick County Maryland died March 3 1934 at his daughter Mayme Cable's home in Winigan Missouri aged 85 years 11 months 3 days He was an early Colorado pioneer near Denver later moved to Lamar Colorado after his wife Rachel Thornburg died He is survived by daughter Mayme Cable Winigan Missouri daughter Lottie Cable Pea Ridge Arkansas and son Archie Calistoga California The text ends with mention of the oldest child’s death.

Mrs Anna Jessee aged 74 of 304 Marshall street Jefferson City died Sunday morning March 11 after years of asthma. She leaves two daughters Miss Laura and Mrs Goldin Nickell and a son Grover Cleveland Jessee. Funeral services were held at Gordon Funeral Chapel Tuesday at 3 PM with Rev Thos B Mather. interment Riverside cemetery.

A Burlington souvenir marks fifty years of the fast mail from Chicago to Omaha. The first solid fast mail train west of Chicago began March 10 1884, with Burlington transporting mail daily without a late minute for years. A card mailed on the fast train March 10 was cancelled en route and returned to the office from Omaha.
The U S House of Representatives passed the Pitman soldiers bonus bill by 295 to 125, authorizing 24 million dollars in greenbacks for veterans. Debate was tight as Speaker Rainey banged his gavel. nine of thirteen Missouri members supported the measure. The bill now goes to the Senate where defeat was seen as likely.
Mrs. Edgar Hoselton entertained the Mid-Week Bridge Club at her country home last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Kenneth Williams won high score as guests, including Mrs. Carl Brassfield and others, enjoyed cake and ice cream.
The Stitch and Chatter Club met with Mrs. Edith Hale on February 15. The gathering spent the day quilting a quilt, nearly finished another, tacked a comfort, bound it, and prepared rags for a rug before a noon dining break.
After a bounteous dinner Orpha assumes control of the business meeting with a lively report. Comora Frances and Allie perform readings and a piano solo while Gary Edwina Hanman and others receive blocks as a baby shower event. The S H Linhart farm east of town is available for rent with possession at once. W P Nickell, Administrator, is handling the rental.
The Second District of the American Legion hosted National Commander Edward Hayes in Moberly on Sunday March 11 drawing a large turnout from across Missouri. Dept. Commander J Grant Frye and most state officers attended. Attendees from Browning Post 274 included Mr and Mrs C Lantz McCormick and Mr and Mrs Aaron D Peterson plus Milan Post members Earnie Bauman and Bob Wilson.
