Orra Belle Anderson, born June 15 1874 in Tippecanoe County Indiana, dies after a period of illness following a fall in Linneus Missouri. She moved to Linneus twenty five years ago with husband Gilbert Anderson, had six children, joined Presbyterian then Methodist Episcopal churches, and is mourned by family and community. Funeral held at Linneus Methodist Church with interment in Enterprise cemetery.

Elizabeth A. Deskins was born January 5, 1849 in Taswell County Virginia and died March 15, 1934 at age 85. She moved with family to Illinois and Missouri before settling near North Salem. She married Benjamin F. Smith on November 5, 1868 and they had eight children. Mr. Smith died August 15, 1915. Elizabeth leaves 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

John N Maggart, oldest son of Cyrus and Isabelle Maggart, died March 16, 1934, at the home of his youngest son near Green Castle Missouri after pneumonia. He left eleven children, 39 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 7 brothers, 2 sisters, and many relatives. Funeral services were held March 18 at Knifong Church with Rev C R Luton, burial in Knifong cemetery.

Passing of Mrs James Gilmer in Linneus
The people of Linneus learned of the death of Mrs James E Gilmer at her South Linneus home. She had suffered diabetes and been bedridden a week. Born January 28 1862 in Salem Indiana she was about 72. Survived by sons Carl Johnson El Paso Texas Howard Johnson Wyoming and daughter Rose Colglazier Salem Indiana. Rose Colglazier arrived from Salem to help but Howard could not travel. The Gilmer family moved to Missouri in 1880 settling in southern Linn county then to Brookfield in 1901 and later returned.

Our third winter storm and cold snap arrived Saturday after warm days. By Sunday the thermometer dropped thirty degrees, yet sun returned Monday clearing frosts. Early gardeners planted spuds Thursday and Friday and faced a wintry blast risking seed crop loss.
