Farm Club Formed After Wednesday Meeting

A Farm Club gathered about eighty people in the I O O F Hall last Wednesday night. J M Silvey of Columbia and Roy Reed of Sedalia spoke, with musical numbers and ice cream refreshments. The group plans to meet the third Thursday each month and form a committee to plan programs and arrange refreshments. Everyone is welcome.

Visit Ties Kansas City Trip to Local Police Family

Mr and Mrs Otto Johnson and Mrs Lizzie Johnson of Browning join Mr and Mrs Milton Moore of Laclede visiting Vernon Moore in Kansas City. While there Mrs Johnson and Mrs Moore see brother Noah Cotter in hospital recovering from a heart attack suffered two weeks ago while on duty as policeman in Chillicothe. Mr Cotter has served on the Chillicothe force for 14 years.

Many House Members Relinquish Seats in General Assembly

Sixty seven past House members are not seeking reelection while 83 filed for reelection, 38 Democrats and 45 Republicans. Twenty candidates are unopposed, and a new statute bars county committees from filling vacancies. In total 422 candidates seek 150 seats: 201 Democrats 219 Republicans and 11 Prohibition Party.

Browning Board Names Garrison Acting Superintendent

At a Browning Board of Education meeting, principal Lela Garrison was elected to replace Superintendent Harry R. Anderson if he is called into military service. Alpha Brantner was rehired as Commercial teacher and girls basketball coach. Ralph Page was hired to teach Social Science and boys' P E. Garrison attends a summer term at Columbia University, while Page attends State Teachers College Kirksville. Music teacher W W Wilkison remains at M F A Central Co operative.

A Putnam County man rejected for defects plans to cash an insurance policy to pay for a necessary minor operation and pass his next exam. In Benton County Corporal Emil Roepke, a WWI veteran, was rejected for varicose veins in March but after treatments he was re examined and accepted for service.

Lloyd Lambert and Sylvia Gillespie were married Sunday at 4 p.m. in Brookfield with Ezra Berry and Linneus guests.
