Linn County Editors Organize for Victory War Effort

A Linn County editors group formed under the County Council of Defense to publish war activity news. Officers: W B McGregor chairman E J Hodges vice chairman L S Simpson secretary G T Woodward treasurer. Nine Democrats and seven Republicans serve on the council with several members also on the Sugar Rationing Board and Red Cross.

Death of Noah Cotter Reported in Kansas City Hospital

Word reached Chillicothe of Noah Cotter passing away Tuesday morning in a Kansas City hospital after a heart attack. He suffered the illness at home and was later taken for treatment. He leaves a wife and daughter of Washington D C and is survived by eight siblings including S Cotter and A W Cotter and several sisters. Funeral services will be held in Chillicothe today.

Navy Construction Regiment seeks men for Kansas City interviews

The Chillicothe Naval Recruiting Office announces that on July 6 a construction engineer officer will interview all applicants in Kansas City for positions including blacksmith carpenter concrete worker truck driver quarry driller construction worker mechanic pipefitter storekeeper and more. Applicants aged 17 to 50 must provide letters of recommendation and have papers filed in Chillicothe before travel. Transportation from Chillicothe to Kansas City is provided. Accepted applicants will receive instruction in their assigned trade.
