Visitors from Grantsville township attended the Willow Vale district last day of school taught by Miss Maude Fields. Patrons filled baskets for a noon dinner spread, followed by a program of dialogues songs and declamations. Word arrived Sunday that Mrs. John Hooker of Lineville Iowa died that morning. A former resident near the Hooker church northwest of town had lived in Lineville for years. She requested M R F Nickell to preach her funeral. he departed Sunday to conduct the service.

The North Salem office strikes bills for a big celebration on July 4. An unusually good program is prepared with good speakers addressing the people. Local residents and nearby communities always enjoy picnics and this year aim to excel past efforts. Plan to attend.

Gladys Ford Weds Web McCullough in Duncan Township

The ceremony occurred at M R F Nickell’s residence on June 18 with near relatives attending. The bride Miss Gladys Ford, daughter of W J Ford, wore blue silk and the groom Web McCullough wore black. A wedding supper followed at the Ford home and friends sent congratulations.

G Baker Celebrates 84th Birthday at Browning Home

On June 21 1910 G Baker marked his 84th birthday at his Browning home with relatives from Laclede and nearby areas. Eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren attended along with several neighbors. A lavish dinner followed, guests left late, and gifts included 53 birthday postcards and a postcard album. The Leader-Record received cake noted as “best ever.”
