Plan Now for Fall Capon Sales Profit

Dear Friends the note urges poultry raisers to prepare for fall capon sales. Capons sell for 20 to 25 percent above roasting chickens or turkeys and are highly profitable. Capons Prove More Profitable Than Roasting Chickens

A Poultry Tribune interview with a husband and wife shows capons yielding higher profits than equal aged roasting chickens. Capons averaged 7.97 pounds at 1.82 each, vs 7.6 pounds at 1.37 for chickens, a 0.45 difference per bird and about 102 dollars more from 227 capons. The source notes faster maturation and lower feed needs, plus simple care with basic shelter and feeders.
