Linn County Teachers Attend Northeast Missouri Summer Session

Edward Williams Browning was elected president of Linn County teachers at the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College session in Kirksville. Frederick Rennick Purdin was elected vice president and Theo Thorn Linneus secretary-treasurer.

Scouts Enjoy West Locust Creek Outing With Master Forbes

A group of boy scouts led by scout master David S. Forbes camped beside West Locust Creek from Monday night to Tuesday afternoon. A local vocal quartet was recognized as superior at the All County religious service in Brookfield. The outdoor event at East Park featured Lorraine Glaze, Lorene Whaley, Edward Williams, Harvey Dickinson with Eunice Dickinson at the piano. Williams also performed a solo to audience delight.

Obituary: B F McGhee Dies at Home Near Shelby

Benjamin Franklin McGhee born February 22 1853 Linn County Missouri passed away July 2 1938 at his Shelby Missouri home aged 85 years 4 months and 10 days He married Ida Jamison February 26 1879 and later Laura Bailey March 4 1888 He leaves wife children Nancy Elizabeth Cokerham Jamison Scott McGhee five children two deceased sixteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren plus a brother and many relatives Funeral held July 3 at Bear Branch Church conducted by Rev Ben Huddleson with many attendees and a community bake of tea and cookies afterward.

Ice cream supper brings Willing Workers together at Duffield schoolhouse

Friday night June 24 at Duffield schoolhouse the Willing Workers and families held an ice cream supper. Eight o'clock start featured home made ice cream cake and ice tea with music games and boxing.
