Royal Neighbors Host Tacky Party with Forty Five Guests

The Royal Neighbor lodge held a tacky party on Thursday January 8 with about forty five guests. The event featured an old fashioned school program of speeches songs and stunts. Prizes went to Mrs Jennie Eppern and Mrs Maggie McCown for tackiest couple Mrs Emma Marvin for best costume and Miss Peterson for potatoe race. Refreshments of mush and milk followed late. The gathering was praised as a memorable royal event.

Dinner Parties and a Prize Guinea Chase at Calhoun Home

Mr and Mrs Hardy Calhoun hosted a week of dinner parties with guests Dr Whaley Mrs Haymak Mr Wayne Gooch Mrs James Neet and family plus Mr and Mrs Adams. Friday night featured a racing and chasing prize event with five guineas awarded to a contestant. Lucile Robison Archie Robison Ed Hollon and Lyle Gooch among winners. Mayor Burwell won 801 grains in a corn eating contest and received a pair of $5 shoes.

Obituary: Martha E Wasson of Posey County Dies at 74

Martha E Wasson born November 22 1850 Posey County Indiana died January 4 1925 age 74 years 1 month 12 days. She and Malachi M Long married February 20 1870 had nine children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 7 at her home conducted by Elder C E Potter, burial beside her husband in Jenkins Cemetery.
