Mr and Mrs L P Jordan returned from dinner at Mr and Mrs Dyle Petersons to a well hidden surprise party hosted by Mrs B J Harvey and Miss Marjorie Rinehart. Last Tuesday 42 Linn County livestockmen toured the St. Joseph Market viewing yard and packing plant grades. Delegates from Meadville Laclede Linneus and Purdin inspected cattle and lamb grades and discussed prices while Swift's Packing Plant tour highlighted grade differences. A bid to lower livestock marketing costs will be sent to the Stock Yards Company and another trip is planned for next winter.

Tea Given in Honor of Geo Washington

The Browning Methodist church began the two hundredth anniversary celebration of George Washington with a relic fair and tea. Ladies led by Myre Lorene Whaley and others arranged mementos around the church, featuring a large Washington picture, flags and bunting. Admission was a dime, with wafers and tea served. exhibits impressed locals with items rivaling those at the state capitol.
