In a protest speech Lozier argues against H R 4524 and H R 7438 raising postal savings credit limits. He says expansion would crowd out private banks, erode deposits and undermine solvency in many communities. He asserts postal banks were meant to aid wage earners, not compete with legitimate banks.
George Wood, a progressive farmer known countywide, files for the office of sheriff in Linn County. He previously ran for sheriff in 1928, winning the nomination over four opponents, and led in the November election before losing.

Monday night the Farmers Store was secured by clerical staff but Tuesday morning a door appeared unfastened. A cash register was opened and money taken, cigarettes vanished, and other articles may be missing. A night marshal is urged to prevent further losses.
William Hirth of the Missouri Farmers Association announces a bipartisan ten member Taxation and Governmental Reform committee led by Senator David L. Bales to study tax cuts. The speaker urges formation of Taxpayers Leagues in every county to publicize findings and pressure legislators before the next session.
The Amoma Class of the Baptist Sunday School met for its regular monthly session led by Mrs. M. A. Holman. After devotionals, business plans were discussed and games awarded to Mrs. Hebert C. Bailey and Mrs. Hollis Duckworth, who won artistic valentines. Refreshments followed, with guests listed including Mrs. Guy T. Carter and others.

Col R H McClannahan longtime editor and reading clerk of the Missouri House and editor of the Green City Press died at his home in Green City after a two year illness. Known for his clear voice and legislative savvy he served from 1875 and was loved by lawmakers and staff. He is survived by his widow and daughter Mrs J D Bohrer.

The Rebekah and Odd Fellow lodges met Tuesday night February ninth for their annual joint installation of officers. District Deputy Grand Master H. E. Kelley and District Deputy President Miss Bertha Banning, both of Linneus, attended with installing officers. A luncheon followed the ceremony. The program featured a grand march, a quartette, solos by Rev. E. John Myers and wife, a talk on Odd Fellow Ancient History by A. C. Jones, and floor drills led by F. C. Peery. Seventy attended, thirty three from Linneus and thirty seven from Browning.
Mr and Mrs George W Prather hosted a Valentine day bridge supper Merril Peterson won the high bridge score Attendees included Mr and Mrs Jerry Jennings Kathyene Rudloff Lenore Tully Leslie Bagley and Merril Peterson.
A male quartet consisting of Hollis Duckworth Harvey Dickinson Edward Williams and James Williams will perform social numbers during the evening services at the M. E. Church South next Sunday evening.
