United States Finishes High Masonry Dam in Wyoming

The government completed a record masonry dam between Rattlesnake and Cedar mountains seven miles west of Cody Wyoming. It spans 170 feet at the top and creates a ten square mile lake to irrigate 150000 acres along the Shoshone River, aiding the Shoshone Irrigation project. The project involves a 7000000 funding and links to the Burlington Route in the Big Horn Basin.

Alta Owen Laid to Rest in Laredo Burial

Alta Owen born March 8 1881 in Linn county Missouri joined Alpha Baptist church early lived a Christian life. She worked as a stenographer for Jenkins Haystacker Co in Denver where she died January 29 1910. Her body returned to Laredo and buried February 2 at Morris Chapel with services by Rev. Potter.

T J Tripp closed a deal Friday making him owner of C F Alexander’s residence in the east part of town for 1700 dollars. Possession will be given this week. Alexander and his wife will rent until spring and then build a modern home on lots they recently bought from Dr Mairs.

Saturday this office turned out cards for the Savings Bank which were one if not the best statement ever made by that bank. Their deposits have increased $22,236.03 since September 2, 1909.

Lamar Colorado wins a Denver and Gulf Cross Road line with a division point and terminal. Construction expected within sixty days and service from Texahome to Lamar 172 miles by May 1, 1911. Citizens have pledged 50000 dollars and a 20 acre ground escrow for terminal buildings and right of way near the Santa Fe line. Work begins soon with shops at the west line of YA north and south of the Santa Fe track.

H C Bailey and son E C spotted a large grey timber wolf at a farm northwest of town near the Creason house. They alerted John Burwell, but the trail went cold before hounds could track it. Authorities note wolves have not been seen here recently.
