The Sunshine Workers Club met with Mrs Earn Head on January 30 1935 after a four week break. Eleven members answered roll call with five men four children and one woman as visitors. Members planned quilt blocks and a Valentine exchange while a noon covered dish luncheon was shared.
Republican voters of Ben ton township will convene at the Electric Theatre Browning on Saturday February 16 at 2 p m to nominate a township ticket for the upcoming township election by order of the committee.
Mr. and Mrs. J H Calhoun and Mr. and Mrs R M Calhoun entertained Wednesday evening January 30 with a two course bridge dinner. Ride-A-Wee Sewing Club members and husbands attended. Dickinsons won high score and Miss Glaze received traveling prize. Guests listed include Duncan Bolling Bailey Dickinson Glaze Gooch Grice Neet Peter sen Peters Williams Lay Burk holder Lorraine Glaze and James Calhoun DeVon Glaze.
The Friendship Circle Club held an all day meeting January 30 with Mrs Jim Slater hosting. A noon covered dish luncheon followed, then president Mrs Houser led roll call of twelve members and two visitors. Contests featured Bessie Smith Lucy Cumbo and Frances Smith. winners were Marjorie Smith Mildred Rhodes and Wanda Stone.
A reader notes receiving a $3 check from Fred R. Duncan president of J. S. Hughes & Co. Banking House in Richmond to advance their home paper subscription to March 16 1936.

Elmo Schrock, current trustee of Benton township, files for re nomination to a second term. Isabel Gooch announces she will visit Purdin on Friday February 8 and Browning on Saturday February 9 to collect Benton township taxes.

Farmers in Linn and Sullivan counties have received their second payments from Uncle Sam. County treasurers Ray Allen and Glenn Tomlin led sign-up efforts to distribute the checks, with Linn using the county seat at Linneus and Sullivan organizing township meetings. About as many signers as in 1934 are expected, with final payments due in roughly sixty days.
Motorists must buy state license tags by February 15 as stated by Marvin Cox the local license clerk with the Chamber of Commerce. State motor vehicle commissioner W. H. Steward announced the deadline on Thursday. Beginning February 16 the State Highway Patrol has been authorized by Superintendent B. Marvin Casteel to arrest motorists without this year’s plates.
A massive truck visited the city and unloaded at the post office rear for distribution to the public. Local residents bought catalogs sent by big city firms, signaling a shift to direct truck delivery to post offices to save postage. Country merchants face tougher competition and may need increased advertising to compete.
We announce Mrs. Cora Ogle of this city as candidate for the office of tax collector of Benton township subject to Republican primary voters. Ogle has spent her entire life in this community.

Nederland store Bailey Maytag Company of Browning Missouri lists Norge refrigerators gas and electric ranges oil burners Maytag washers and other household appliances in a sales notice for local customers.
D G Freeland awoke Friday night to his dog barking in the garage. Looking from his window he saw three wolves near the garage, which retreated toward the bottom when alarmed. He noted neighborhood dogs barking but none pursued the wolves. The wolves likely moved toward the hills to spend the winter and coming summer.
The Duncan Township primary election is set for Saturday March 16. All candidates must file with chairman Ola Knifong by March 9 per committee order. Pearle Thurlo secretary.
Last Wednesday evening Miss Lorene Stone entertained with four tables of bridge. Mil dred Woodward won high honors. Refreshments were served. Present were Vera Freeland Eunice Hazel Maggart Dorothy Haggard Dorothy Yardley Dorothy Linhart Virginia Burkholder Mildred Woodward Vera Sargent Imogene Hanman Ella Brookshier Bettie Baker Helen Havens Doris Havens Reva Knifong and Lorene Stone.
M T Scott and J P Bolling attended the Missouri Farmers Association managers meeting in Columbia on Monday and Tuesday. About 250 managers were present and a fine program was presented. Reports indicate the association is in its best condition in several years, pleasing the membership of the large farm organization.

It details base acreage limits, hog production caps, and payments including a 35 cent per bushel adjustment for reducing corn land, with options to hold out up to 30 percent and rely on government loan programs.
