The 101 Ranch and Col George Miller’s Vast Oklahoma Legacy
In northern Oklahoma the 101 Ranch grew from Col. George Miller’s land leasing after 1893 into a 110000 acre showplace famed for cattle herds, a dairy, canneries, an oil refinery, and the Real Wild West Show. The ranch became one of the region’s great enterprises drawing 100000 visitors annually before much of its land was government acquired and the estate faded, with the big house empty and weeds in the yard.
