Matkins Killed at Milan Rock Crusher
Willie Matkins was instantly killed Tuesday morning at the Milan rock quarry when a crane failed to lock and the crane came down on his chest as he prepared to load stone. The accident occurred about 10 30 and the body was taken to the undertaker. Numerous local families attended the scene.

Neighbor Quilt Day At Brantners Near Winigan
Sixty four neighbors gathered Friday at Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Brantner home near Winigan. Women quilted and men chopped wood. Friends meet twice weekly at different homes to help with tasks. A friendship quilt blocks were presented to Mrs. Everett Sleeth. Next meeting will be at Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ware on Tuesday December 12.
