First Wheat Allotment Checks Go Out in Linn County
Linn county farmers queued at Linnells to receive their first wheat allotment checks from the Wheat Association treasurer Herman Taggart and County Agent Hall. The Kansas City Star noted $345 payments on the front page. Missouri received $400,000 and Kansas over $4,000,000 in recent wheat payments. Frederick Gardner dies in St Louis former Missouri governor
Frederick Dozier Gardner former Missouri governor died at Barnes Hospital in St Louis at 2 45 am Monday December 18 from toxemia infection of the right jaw following a tooth extraction. He was born November 6 1869 in Hickman Kentucky and became noted for lowering Missouri’s debt income tax laws during his 1916 campaign. Funeral services were held at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church with burial at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
