J and Mrs Burton Carr entertained the M M D ridge Club on December 5 with Miss Lorene Burkholder and Miss Edith Burkholder as guests. After a hot dinner bridge was played with favors going to Mrs Ira Nevins and Earl Nickell. Plans were made for a New Year’s Eve party.

A large Republican delegation from every county in the district gathered Thursday at 1 PM in the College of Osteopathy assembly hall Kirksville. Chaired by Tren ton district chairman Chas Gibson, speakers included Grover Dalton state chairman Mrs Rodney Remley and Judge Maurice Hyde along with Walter Blasten and Arthur M Curtis. The highlight was a speech by Curtis eliciting strong applause.
Circuit court convened in Linnies on Monday with Judge Paul Van Osdel presiding. The Linn County Bar Association members attend to client interests as a long docket unfolds. Petit jurors include James A. Lee, John Burkholder, Bennie Jerome, Vic Waitt, Frank Head, Dale Ware. Alternates are H. M. Buswell, Ray Lee, J. N. Edens, Spencer Bowyer, Sam Gooch, Earl Barron, Henry Kruse.

The Board of Education met in special session Monday night and named Dr. W. D. Grice to fill the director position left by M. T. Scott. The fuel contract was awarded to R. E. Harris. The partition in the gymnasium will be removed to allow indoor basketball practice and a play room in bad weather. A one week Christmas vacation was recommended.

A club meeting described as festive and lively with homemade gifts, a fish pool prize event, and a two o'clock business-meeting that turned into recreation. Twenty three members and as many visitors attended, with contests, readings, songs, and prizes for gold and purple members.

The noon luncheon was a covered dish affair. The meeting opened with scripture readings and songs. Members and visitors listed include several with the surname Couch Neely Thorpe Franklin and Lawrence. The group will meet again with Hazel Jones on December 12.

Goats will not be used. emphasis on soil conservation and liming. Frank Priebe notes poultry price shifts and urges quality poultry and eggs. Reinhard Bros. promotes spring terms on Farmalls with easy payments.
The author urges poultry raisers to count on Christmas demand as poultry prices rise about 5 cents per pound from last year and value has more than tripled in two years. Mr and Mrs Jas P Bolling entertained Mr and Mrs W F Peters Miss Lorraine Glaze and Ride A Wee Sewing Club members and husbands at their country home on Wednesday evening December 4. High score favors went to Mrs C W Gooch and J H Calhoun with traveling prize to W H Dickinson.
