Rural home saved by Linn County farmers effort
The Linn County Iowa farmers organized to protect the rural home and improve farm income. Over three thousand calls to the County Agent, twenty four groups, and 4 H clubs helped raise incomes and cut costs. They adopted methods using Korean clover, red clover hay, high yielding seed, and balanced rations to lift farm earnings and preserve the farm home for the next generation. Community leaders mapped a five year Extension Program to save an estimated 300 dollars per farmer beyond the program cost.
