Caroline Cassity born September 13 1858 in Linn County Missouri died December 1 1982 at home aged 74 2 17 She married James Alva Cassity May 12 1878 he died May 14 1908 They had two children James Harrison who died in infancy and Lula Pfeiffer Her daughter Lula cared for her She joined the Christian church early and lived a life of kindness Funeral services were led by P H Chaffee.

Lame Duck Session Sees Repeal Vote Defeat in House
In Washington on Monday the House defeated the Garner resolution to repeal the eighteenth amendment by 272 to 144, six votes short of the two thirds needed. Speaker Garner said he would push a beer bill and hoped for House action by Christmas, but no further repeal votes are planned this session. Democrats 168 Republicans 102 Farmer-Labor 1 supported repeal. Republicans 101 Democrats 45 opposed. Sixty-two defeated members voted against the Garner resolution.

Milo Maxwell told County Agent Hall that during warm days last week he saw up to a dozen chinch bugs on a single ear of corn and many ears infested. Nature may eradi cate them with bad weather, but farmers can help by burning grassy fence rows and fields where chinch bugs winter in large numbers. Precautions must prevent fires from running wild. Feeding For Eggs With High Yields From Rations
Farmers seek County Agent guidance on egg production. A standard mash uses 200 pounds each yellow corn meal bran shorts, 150 pounds meat scrap, and 7 pounds oak. Feed with grain mix of yellow corn two parts to one part wheat or oats. Hens on this ration have produced well despite low prices. A new bulletin on feeding hens for egg production is available at the County Agent’s office.
