The Locust Creek Drainage District held its annual meeting in Linneus with F. L. Fitch elected chair and G. W. Grider secretary. Ross Riddle was re elected to the board for four years as district finances showed unpaid taxes over 20 000. The secretary treasurer reported about 35 percent tax collection. land values have fallen, threatening future financing. Last week Linneus hosted the Old Settlers Association event with excellent speakers and a strong program. A light rain the day before helped set a festive mood as five to eight thousand people attended Friday, making 1933’s meeting one of the association’s largest crowds.
