Dr. Dryden of Purdin sprains his ankle after a horse-related accident last week. He previously survived a roofing material mishap and eye injury while working on a store, and has just bought a new auto. He plans to visit Brookfield for it and continues practice on crutches.
On Sunday, W R Van Fossen married Vernie DeWitt at the bride’s parents home in Milan. Rev Powell of the M E Church officiated. The couple, both well known locally, will reside on their farm near the bride’s home in a few weeks.
John Elbert Stinson born March 18 1874 in Linn County Missouri grew up there. He lived in Oregon and South Dakota before returning to Browning Missouri. He married Veda Farmer in 1907 and had one child who died in infancy. He fell seriously ill weeks ago and died Wednesday April 5 surrounded by family. Funeral services were led by Rev W C G Potter at Kaifong Grove church with many present. Mrs Stinson receives community sympathy.
District Superintendent Charles E. Petree, assisted by Rev. Fanning, led the quarterly meeting at the Kirksville Methodist Church. A large congregation attended and collected more than the usual quarterage. Rev. Petree delivered a strong sermon Saturday afternoon and again Sunday morning. Members from North Salem joined the conference.

A letter argues taxpayers should not oust the highway engineer over a salary dispute. It notes a replacement with a capable bridge man at lower pay and warns that voting out the office could cost the county more than the current salary and restore the ex official with a new expense allowance.
Dr. W. C. Ingram rents the two north rooms over Gable's hardware and outfits a new office. He will be in practice from 9 to 12 and 2 to 4 daily. Friends are invited to call for his services as his practice grows.
The above play will be performed at the city opera house on Wednesday night April 19 under the auspices of the High School. It promises a rare treat and invites the public to attend.

The third quarterly conference of the M. E. C. South will meet at their city church on Saturday April 15 at 1 30 p m J H Hubbard Chillicothe district superintendent will attend and preach at Bear Branch church Saturday night and Sunday All are invited to attend.
