Field Day Tour Gains Statewide and Indian Agriculturists Attention

Texas Highway Patrol Seeks New Applicants

The Texas Highway Patrol is accepting applications through October 15 for patrolmen. Examinations will occur statewide in late October with top scorers entering training in January in Austin. Prospectors must be 21 to 35, 5 feet 8+ inches, and US citizens resident in Texas for at least a year.

American Cancer Society Group to Meet in Terry County

The Terry County unit of the American Cancer Society will hold its annual meeting at 7 30 p m Tuesday in the South Plains Health Department. Mrs R N McClain local chairman says Miss Nancy James ASC field representative will show a film and discuss how laymen can assist in cancer education and service. The chairman urges all interested persons to attend with the education service crusade publicity and other officers named.

Final services held for J. R. Burnett Terry County pioneer

Funeral services for Janes Rufus Jim Burnett 80 a Terry County pioneer were held at First Baptist Church. Survivors include wife five sons and one daughter. born 1876 in Erath County he moved to Terry County in 1906 aiding Brownfield building efforts and civic duties.

Final Services Held For Burdett Auburg

Funeral services for Thomas Burdett Auburg a 3b year old former Brownfield resident who died Friday in San Antonio were conducted at First Baptist Church of Lubbock. The Rev J Wayland Edwards and Rev Clifford Harris officiated. Burial followed in Brownfield Cemetery. Auburg survived by his wife two daughters his parents two brothers and one sister. He was born July 22 1920 in Lovington New Mexico and later moved to Lubbock then San Antonio where he served as general manager of General Bank and Equipment Company and was an ordained minister.

Dr. Robert Hoey presented Parenthood in a Free Nation during a Colonial Heights PTA meeting. Two second vice presidents, Mr and Mrs Joe Ramsdell, were elected. Principal Bryan Jones introduced faculty as President Mrs Curtis Sterling announced the officers.

Rainbow Girls to Host Breakfast for Businessmen

Rainbow Girls Brownfiield Assembly will serve breakfast to businessmen and women from 6 30 a m until 4 30 a m Saturday in the arty House. It is the second such event this month prompted by the first success. Plans call for monthly breakfasts with chits at one dollar each.

Cub Brownfield High School staff announce an ad sales campaign starting Monday to fund the annual’s printing costs. Construction Dollars Mount Brownfield Sees Million This Year
