Red light runs draw police action in Brownfield traffic surge

Brownfield police issued 73 moving violation tickets this month led by a 12 minute rush at a red stop sign. New officers Dallas Bartley and Billy Wayne Weatherby joined the force while one motorist, Jack LaRue Lewis, paid a $200 liquor violation fine after running a red light. City traffic injuries rise to 108 with one recent hospital treatment for William Cromer Knox.

Services Held For T. J. Falkner In Meadow

Final services for 78 year old T. J. Falkner of Meadow were conducted at Meadow Church of Christ with John McCoy officiating. Burial followed at Meadow Cemetery. Falkner died after a long illness in a Big Spring hospital. He previously lived in Terry County since 1928 and was a native of Alabama. Survivors include three sons Elmer and Clyde Falkner and T. P. Falkner and four daughters Maude Hammock Autrey Turner and others, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wenzel Tops Berkshire Show With 18 Wins at Panhandle-South Plains

A. D. Wenzel, a Berkshire expert from north of Brownfield, led with 18 wins in the Swine Division at the Panhandle South Plains Fair in Lubbock. His trophies included top placings in senior boar, junior yearling boar, mature boar, senior sow, junior champion sow, reserve champion sow, and multiple get of sire categories among others.

The Texas Company completed its No Aten Chick wildcat well this week. It was drilled 990 feet from the west line and 20 feet from the section line in Section 123. The well shows a 35 barrel per day low flow and perforations at 12 788 62 feet. No water was reported and gravity measured 0.687.

Scholarship Awarded to Former Brownfield Resident

The Mighew Scholarship in Geophysics for four years totaling 3000 dollars goes to Richard bf McReynolds, son of TD and Mrs McReynolds, former Brownfield residents now in Port Stockton.
