H L King was re elected director of District II at the Texas Farm Bureau Convention in Corpus Christi November 13 16. King chairs the Field Crops Committee and its cotton sub committee and serves on the Farm Labor Committee. He notes the convention backed a voluntary funded dynamic cotton research and promotion program and endorsed Cotton Producers Institute and National Cotton Council programs. The December vote will decide the research program. He and delegates also urged full credit for skip row planting and opposed government price controls on dairy and other farm products. king farms in Terry County and ranches in Eastland raising cotton grain sorghum and livestock.
GenTel employees finished an eight hour safe driving school with R B Porter and Linefield Roy Kemper of Laivesa as instructors. The program will be offered to the public after year’s start in two hour evening sessions for a $4 workbook fee. The National Safety Council outline and Texas Safety Association sponsor the course, which has educated West Texas telephone personnel and others.
Terry County harvest rises by 20 215 bales in a week to reach 74 069. USDA reports show an early freeze reducing expected totals. farmers anticipate completion within two weeks and a season still under 100 000 bales versus 143 642 last year.
