UF Campaign Reaches 61 Percent of Goal

District Court Proceedings Open with Fifteen Cases

District Court in Long Session adjourned day two with fifteen cases past, three settled, one dismissed, and one defaulted. Judge M C Ledbetter presided. The Downtown Ford Sales vs Shopnite Foods case yielded $1332.31 to the plaintiff. A new Farmers Division led by Dennis Lilly and Donald Hancock had collected $967.50 by noon. Minor Accidents Plague Officials

A string of minor crashes occupied local law enforcement over three days. Incidents included a 1962 Pontiac driven by Fulke Howard Farrar at Fourth and Broadway, a 1961 Ford driven by Real Longoria Franco at City Park, a 1964 Pontiac driven by Domingo Perez Alvarado near Sea graves Highway, and a 1965 Chevrolet with 1966 Ford clash in front of the Hill Street Post Office. Local burglaries, prowler reports, and multiple drunkenness or traffic warrants arrests followed. Firemen tackled a farmhouse blaze at James Thurman farm due to an electrical short with heavy damage.

Terry County Young Farmers meet at 7:30 p m Thursday in Brownfield High School Vocational Agriculture building. Officials from the Farmers Home Administration will discuss loan programs for young farmers. Plans for Stripper Day and the state convention in Corpus Christi on June 13-14, 1967, will be reviewed.

United Fund appoints Holland Evans Terry County chair

Holland Evans, longtime Brownfield Public Schools business manager, is named chair of the Terry County United Fund School Division overseeing four county schools. Evans traces 10 to 42 years of United Fund work across Gaines Dawson and Terry counties, moved with his family to Brownfield in July 1965, and notes his leadership role makes the job easier.
