Spirit of the Plains Band Banquet Honors Brownfield Students
The Brownfield High School Spirit of the Plains band banquet celebrated a banner year as the band, a UIL Sweepstakes recipient five times in six years, honored members and leaders. Cheryl Flowers received the John Philip Sousa Award. Lisa Davis and Joe Shannon were named outstanding senior girl and boy, with Danny Melcher as outstanding junior, Johnnie Roe as outstanding sophomore, and Paul Porter as outstanding freshman. Debbie Davis and Danny Melcher also received the Fred Smith Award for leadership.

South Plains College presents Country Caravan 1983 a traveling country show at Meadow city park Friday at 8 p m featuring about 50 songs with 75 percent on current country charts in a Grand Ole Opry style. The tour continues to Brownfield on June 18.
