Brownfield High School honors 1983 graduates at an awards assembly naming Dianna Carol Hoch valedictorian and Michael Scott Ogle salutatorian among 111 seniors. Hoch, daughter of Forest and Nadene Hoch, earned NHS, student council roles, and a US Achievement Academy science award. Ogle, son of J.K. and Lynne, served as student body president, joined band and basketball, appeared in Who's Who, and won the National Spanish Award.

Leslie Mark Edwards and Kimberlyn Dee Cline have been named valedictorian and salutatorian of the Wellman High School Class. Edwards carried a 95.51 average, was active in FFA and NHS, and plans to study computer programming at Texas A&M. Cline posted 89.09, played basketball and ran track, served on yearbook and FHA, and plans to work after graduation. The Wellman School Board meets at 9 p.m. Monday to review bids on gym floor and on a teacherage.
