Brownfield School Board, in emergency session, appointed Deane Wright 53 as head coach and athletic director of Brownfield High School. Wright built a 118 78 5 head coaching record across Canyon Hamlin and Dimmitt. at Canyon his record was 37 30 7. He is a West Texas State University graduate with a physical education degree and a history and speech minor.

Meadow High School honors 82 seniors in the Class of 1982 led by valedictorian Kathy Wilkes and salutatorian Darla Duncan. Sales Tax Rebate Report Shows Continued Increase

Brownfield High names 1981 valedictorian and salutatorian
Betsy Williams and Beth Hamilton were declared valedictorian and salutatorian for Brownfield High School’s 1981 82 graduating class of 131 by the awards committee in the gym. Williams, daughter of R B and Paula Williams, starred as a marching band twirler and led the Science Club while placing first in district and regional UIL science contests. Hamilton, daughter of Mike and Mary Jo Lee Awards, is also highlighted for her academic standing.

Teens Break Storage Tanks In Solar Valley Incident
Brownfield police logged a busy week of break ins and burglaries from Tuesday to Friday. The costliest event damaged three storage tanks north of the Santa Fe Depot with 30,000 gallons of Na-Churs Plant Food spilled. Fertilizer valued at 125,000 dollars, tanks damaged by 250 dollars. Three 13 year old juveniles involved. one arrested and released to parents, two to be questioned. A sofa set valued at 1,200 dollars was reported stolen from 1318 E Main, and eight shotguns disappeared from Western Auto Store at 202 S 5th.

Brownfield High School names Mr and Miss Cub at banquet
Brownfield High School honors top athletes Richard Hope and Marcy Holladay as Mr and Miss Cub at the annual athletic banquet. Hope, a four year BHS tennis performer, teamed with Russel Purvis to win the district doubles title and posted 102 season wins. Holladay led BHS girls basketball in scoring on the South Plains and will play in the Texas High School Coaches All Star Game in Houston.
