More than 650 fans attended the Brownfield High School athletic banquet in Cub Gym on Saturday night. Joel Ross earned Mr Cub while Jennifer Box and Staci Rogers shared Miss Cub. Box and Rogers led a girls doubles tennis team that placed first in District 3-AAA and fourth regionally.

Rain has fallen in moderate amounts across parts of Terry County over five days but still falls short of a thorough soaking needed for planting. Brownfield reported the largest total at 1.61 inches, with city totals by Earl Elrod breaking down to .19 Friday .40 Saturday .22 Sunday and .85 Monday night into Tuesday. Gins in the county reported 1 to 2 inches, with variations by location including 2 inches at Johnson Gin and 1.5 inches at Tokio Coop and Pleasant Valley. District Conservationist Duane Moss noted most producers had seen about an inch or less, except one southwest farmer reporting three to five inches since Friday.
