Task Force eyes evening college courses in Brownfield

Terry county citizens may learn and have fun by meeting one evening a week. The Education Task Force led by Joe Sears released a questionnaire to gauge interest in a program of Fun Classes. If enough support appears, instructors will be sought and courses arranged with minimal fees for supplies or professional charges.

Dilapidated Brownfield buildings face 30 day amnesty bid
On May 17 1989 Brownfield City Council heard 11 dilapidated structures with four drawing representation. Four properties received 30 day amnesty before possible condemnation while the others face the next steps. Names at 421 East Hill 108 N 2nd 218 W Stewart and Istand Ross linked to Medrano Hubbard Perez and Willie Washington estates. Authorities noted unpaid 1988 837 59 1984 941 30 taxes and noted fire damage vandalism and cesspool issues. Extensions were sought by owners and inspections planned in 30 days with potential demolition if standards not met.

The Brownfield High School Spirit of the Plains band will perform its spring concert Thursday at 7 30 p m at Terry County Park. If bad weather hits, the event moves to the middle school auditorium. Daniel Trevino Wins Best in Show at Brownfield High Art Show
Daniel Trevino earned best in show for a floor room weaving project at Brownfield High School Art in Action. The display runs in room 47 of the Vocational Wing through Friday from 8 15 a m to 3 45 p m, open to the public with over 400 works. Judge Robert Mosier and BHS art instructor Nikki Jinkins led the event featuring seven categories with numerous prize winners and many works for sale.
