Minister Fred D. Davis Plans Additions at Southside Church
Fred D. Davis, new Southside Church of Christ minister since January, plans classroom expansions by summer to relieve crowded Sundays. Extensions will blend auditorium and classrooms with sliding doors. Davis has lived in Wyoming Oklahoma and California and was born in Pawnee Oklahoma.

Final Rites Held For Mrs Frank Gray
Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Gray age 26 were held in Brownfield at the First Baptist Church. She died Sunday night from injuries in a car pickup collision six miles north of Brownfield. Two men were injured Glenn Reed and Frank Gray the husband. Reed was treated for shock and arm lacerations and released from hospital. Rev Wayland Edwards and Rev H H Gray officiated. Burial followed at Terry County Memorial.

Brownfield building permits surge in April to near records
Brownfield reports April permits totaling 628 770 for new elementary and high school projects plus 352 000 for a West Side auditorium and kitchen. Year to date permits reach 1 928 820, placing 1955 as a near record and hinting at a possible May push toward the 1950 high. Additional purchases include Crescent Hill Church parking and street paving petitions.

Progressive Farming Methods Prove South Terry Land Can Be Controlled
Wins ton Adams returns to farming in South Terry County near Brownfield after a refrigeration career. His 146 tile section supports 85 cows 30 calves five brood sows 30 pigs and poultry. He grows 20 acres alfalfa 40 in vetch and rye plans 220 acres cotton 160 on a neighboring farm and experiments with Weeping love grass and irrigation wells. He aims to finish fall calving and believes feed grown will be worth more as beef than sold as feed. See ADAMS Page 4.

Union High School plans a baccalaureate service Sunday night May S at 8 at Union Baptist Church with Rev Uel D Cros by as speaker. Commencement is May 13 in the school auditorium addressed by John H Myers. Seniors travel to Colorado Springs for a few days starting Saturday morning with sponsors. Eighth grade graduation is May 10 with Bill Lewis in charge.

Fifth Sweepstakes Won by BHS Band
Brownfield High School Band earned its fourth consecutive Sweepstakes at the Interscholastic League Instrumental Music Festival in Plainview and previously took a 1950 sweepstakes as well. Under Fred Smith the AA class group led in first division solos and ensembles with many honorees. They advance to Enid Oklahoma to compete, with Levelland Plainview Lubbock Abernathy and Orton among other winners. John Hill Charles Gunn and several others earned multiple first division honors in solos ensembles and quartets.
